GETTING IT JUST RIGHT: THE ART AND SCIENCE OF TEACHING

Scientists have been studying the best practices of teaching for decades. Those of us in the field realize that there is more than science to teaching and learning. It's actually the "art" of teaching that impacts our practices. In this course examine and develop your knowledge skills, as you build more effective and trusting relationships with and among students. At the same time boost your students' achievement to exceptional heights. Walk away with a palette of realistic tools and a variety of techniques to apply in your instruction and methods. You will, in effect, interweave the science and art of teaching in order to work smarter, not harder!

This is a hybrid course, in which participants divide up their time between the half day morning or afternoon class day and the remaining assignment component to be completed outside class. The hybrid format will allow students to access a wider range of educational materials and gain more relevant knowledge to guide them in their profession.

The following Wisconsin Teaching Standards apply to this course:

T2. understanding the broad range of abilities of students in their classrooms

T3. understanding how students differ in their approaches to learning

T4. understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies
