From A Position of Strength: Unleashing Your Innate Teaching Talents
|
For years teachers have been sold a bill of goods about “fixing” their weaknesses in order to become better at their craft. As a result, they have wasted countless hours chasing down the Holy Grail of “well-roundedness,” a thinly veiled substitute for mediocrity. Recently, studies have found that strengths provide a markedly more positive impact on our lives. This groundbreaking course will teach you how to maximize the talents in your personal and professional life and create a classroom environment rich in student and adult strengths. Teach with your strengths in order to be happier, more productive and more successful, even to the point of greatness! This is a hybrid course, in which participants divide up their time between the half day morning or afternoon class day and the remaining assignment component to be completed outside class. The hybrid format will allow students to access a wider range of educational materials and gain more relevant knowledge to guide them in their profession. The following Minnesota Teaching Standards apply to this course: Standard 2. Student Learning; understands how students learn and develop and provides appropriate learning opportunities. Standard 3. Diverse Learners; understands how students differ in their approaches to learning and creates appropriate instructional opportunities. Standard 5. Learning Environment; creates learning environments that encourage active engagement in learning. |
